Massachusetts Home Sales Down in December and Down for 2018

Closed sales for both single-family homes and condominiums dropped year-over-year from last DecemberThere was a small drop in median price for single-family homes and condominiums compared to this time last year and the month also saw the lowest number of single-family homes for sale in the month of December since MAR began reporting the data in 2004.

Year-end data for 2018 shows that total closed sales have had a two percent decrease for both single-family homes and condominiums. The year also saw an increase in average median prices for both single-family homes and condominiums compared to 2017.  Without an increase in inventory in 2019, closed sale decreases and median price increases are trends that will likely continue.

November 2018 Inventory of Single-Family Homes and Condominiums Still at Record Monthly Lows

Closed sales for both single-family homes and condominiums dropped year-over-year from last November. There was an increase in median price for single-family homes and for condominiums compared to this time last year. Median Price for Condos Rises Higher than Single-Family Homes in Massachusetts

Closed sales for both single-family homes and condominiums fell in March while median prices went up. The median price for condominiums in March was $10,000 more than single-family homes for the first time since MAR began recording the data in 2004. Home Sales Down in January as Inventory Remains at Record Low Levels

Closed sales for single-family homes fell slightly in January, while prices rose more than three percent. Condominium sales saw a drop in sales as well, with prices rising over six percent. Inventory dropped to a record low for the month of January. This is the second month in a row that the number of single-family homes for sale has been below the 10,000 mark. Continue reading

Massachusetts Pending Home Sales Up and Market Confidence High in December to Close out the Year and Throughout 2017

Buyers continued to come out and make accepted offers on single-family homes and condominiums in the final month of the year as the number of homes put under agreement and prices increased in DecemberAs a whole, 2017 saw both homes put under agreement and average median prices increase compared to 2016.
